The Association of British
Insurers recommend yearly inspections to check the
condition of the entire Ductwork and a report be provided
after inspection. The frequency of cleaning the length
of the extract ductwork should be based on a considered
risk assessment. Cleaning only hoods and filters or
easily accessible visible areas is only a very small
part of the cleaning schedule. Ignoring cleaning areas
inside the duct which are not visible can lead to
a breeding ground for micro organisms and can cause
mechanical breakdown of entire extract systems. Kitchen
extract ductwork also presents a particular hazard
in that combustible deposits such as grease are likely
to accumulate on its internal surfaces causing a serious
fire risk. HYPERKLEAN carry out an inspection of the
entire Extract system, installing access panels where
necessary for easy cleaning and inspection.
